About Safehaven Studios:
I'm Andy Reed, founder of Safehaven Studios.
I've spent 35 yrs in and around audio having started drumming
in bands aged 13, running PA at 15 and recording at 17.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can rememeber,
and as my career choice for the last 20 yrs.
Safehaven began as a project in 2018, whilst studying for my Degree,
and has taken a while to hone into what it has now become,
a fully professional, bespoke production facility.
I've worked in many studios before, both as musician and producer,
and in too many I felt pressure, tension, and an emphasis on technical
perfection at the expense of the true, real meaning of a song.
There was often an unwillingness to take risks, to sit with uncertainty,
or to allow something honest to emerge.
Often artists were forced to perform seperately for technical perfection
at the expense of feel, realness and honesty.
That never felt to me as conducive to quality work.
I built Safehaven Studios as a response to those experiences.
The building itself was designed to suit these needs.
The studio was designed and built by me, largely on my own,
from the floor up.
I researched and installed all of the equipment myself and
every technical choice was made to support moments being created
and captured honestly, but in the highest quality.
With the capacity to record up to 96 channels live,
with unlimited performer monitor mixes spread across all our rooms,
we use technology to remove barriers to honest creativity.
The studio isn’t separate from me;
it’s an extension of how I believe creative work should happen.
The space itself matters.
Safehaven is large, comfortable, and set in rural woodland,
away from distraction.
It’s a place to slow down, focus,
and escape the noise that often surrounds creative work.
The work here is artist-led.
I believe each project is as unique as the artist behind it.
There are no fixed pathways and no one-size-fits-all solutions.
Every project is built solely around the needs of the artist, the work,
and where they are in their creative journey.
I’m also acutely aware of the realities facing artists today.
Money is tight, and the creative industries are under sustained pressure.
That understanding informs how Safehaven operates.
Where appropriate, projects can be structured over longer periods,
up to twenty-four months ,
allowing work to develop sustainably rather than being
rushed or compromised by short-term constraints.
Honest feedback and advice are part of the process,
always in service of the work rather than ego.
Sustainability and mental health matter, because creative work should be
survivable, not extractive. I care deeply about long-term development.
Some projects take a day. Others take years.
Both are valid.
What matters is the truth of the song, its meaning, its intent,
its emotional weight,
not a version of perfection that feels hollow or forced.
The best work I’ve seen happens when the producer and the environment,
allows things to simply happen.
The strongest songs don’t feel forced, they fall out of the artist.
The same is true of recording.
Performance only becomes great when the atmosphere allows it.
Technical application is essential, but the energy in the room
matters more.
When both are present, the real magic can happen.
When artists feel relaxed, supported, and safe,
they’re able to truly perform at their best.
A successful Safehaven project isn’t defined by metrics or trends.
It’s one where everyone involved feels proud of the outcome.
That's the Point.
